The pervasiveness of computers continues to grow at an outstanding rate. In today's world, computer literacy is considered to be a very important skill to possess. Parents want their children to have computer skills. Some are able to provide these skills from home, while others will depend on the education system.
Computers in the class room are becoming more of a mandate than an option. But, how will all schools fund this mandate? How do our educators stay on top of technology in an environment that getting funding from the taxpayers is increasingly difficult?

Windows is the dominant environment used in schools, but Linux is the least expensive. Any windows solution installed today would be expensive, may have problems (VISTA) running legacy applications or be obsolete the day you purchase it (XP).
There is a solution for educators. Thin clients and the Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP). LTSP can provide you with a solution that has long term support, is flexible, and allows you to use thin clients as your desktop. Unlike most personal computers, thin clients will be viable for upwards of ten years.
